Good Job Living
Good Job Living! is a gently-surreal journey in adeptness: at speaking to strangers, at buying shampoo, receiving gifts, at being yourself... Floating between monologue, physical performance, object theatre, field recordings, and extended musical performance, it examines being a subject in/of just trying to live in the world we've made. How do we manage (or not) to communicate with the words and means we've inherited?
Love yourself,
Do the right thing, Open your world,
Don't live life without it.
Quality never goes out of style.
Open happiness, Sheer driving pleasure,
Because you're worth it.
You know what you have.
The best or nothing.

ABOUT THE ARTIST
WILSON TANNER SMITH
Wilson Tanner Smith (USA/FI, he/they) is a cellist, composer, improviser, and music-theatre artist currently based in Hamburg, with roots in the improvised music and performance communities of Chicago. His work at the edges between music and theatre often explores the performance of person-ness, mirroring the alienating, absurd, silly or senseless signals we receive from the world around us in order to cultivate an awareness of the relationships we have with the people, systems, and structures we live with.
As a cellist/improviser he frequently collaborates across music, theatre, and dance projects, and has performed at venues such as the Chicago Museum of Contemporary Art, Estonia Kontserdisaal, the Ragdale Foundation (Chicago), Narva Art Center/Kreenholm Factory, Le Périscope (Lyon), and the Mullbau (Lucerne). He is also a member of the improvising quartet Mad Myth Science, whose debut album was released August 2023 to acclaim from The Wire, the Quietus, Chicago Reader, and Stereogum.
