Oceanic Melodies
In Oceanic Melodies the Norwegian composer and musician Louisa Palmi presents an eclectic programme from all over the world relating to water and the voice in different ways together with a selection of Palmi’s own music. At the center of the programme we hear the New York based composer Corie Rose Soumah’s piece like a frog on the road to it for six speakers. The piece works as an “investigation into distilled melancholias, nostalgias & summer brightness or the land of belonging placed at the liminal verge of shattering identities” in Rose Soumah’s own words.
This concert is presented through the use of Ambisonics. Ambisonics is a full-sphere surround sound format which covers sound sources around an audience and sometimes above and below the listener. In this concert, the audience will be placed inside of a circle of speakers, enveloping them in a new and beautiful sound world, created by Palmi, who will move the sounds around the space in real time.
